FS Got Talent Reflection

FS Got Talent was an incredible experience for me, both as a dancer and as a choreographer. This is a school-level competition held annually, and I was fortunate to take part in it this year. I performed a semi-classical dance that I choreographed and prepared entirely by myself—just one night before the competition! Despite the last-minute preparation, the performance went amazingly well, and I managed to secure 2nd place.

My background in Bharatanatyam played a significant role in helping me excel in this competition. Having completed my training in Bharatanatyam, I was able to apply the techniques, expressions, and grace I had learned to create a unique and captivating performance. I also edited the music myself to make sure it matched the rhythm and flow of my choreography.

Beyond the competition itself, I also got the chance to watch other participants’ performances, which was inspiring and motivating. It was incredible to see the diverse talent among my peers and to be part of such a vibrant creative environment.

Connection with Learning Outcomes:

  1. LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.
My ability to choreograph, perform, and adapt under pressure highlighted my strengths in creativity, focus, and composure. I realized that my background in Bharatanatyam gave me a strong foundation, but I also identified areas for growth—such as improving my time management and starting my preparations earlier to refine my performance further.
  2. LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
Preparing for the competition in just one night was a huge challenge. From choreographing the routine to editing the song and rehearsing, I had to push myself to stay focused and calm under pressure. This experience taught me how to work efficiently in a time crunch and trust my instincts.

FS Got Talent was not only a test of my dancing skills but also of my ability to think creatively and adapt quickly. The experience boosted my confidence and reinforced my love for dance, making it one of the most memorable performances of my school life.
