Business Model Canvas Competition

I participated in the Shark Tank competition with my business idea, “PlanIt,” a digital platform designed to simplify event planning by connecting organizers with vendors like caterers, florists, and venues. My goal was to pitch my idea, secure investment, and receive feedback that would help refine and grow my business concept. Winning the competition validated my vision and provided invaluable insight into the real-world application of my idea.

LO1 – Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth
Through this experience, I identified my strengths in pitching and presenting ideas confidently. My ability to clearly communicate the value of “PlanIt” helped secure the interest of the judges. However, I recognized that I still need to improve on financial forecasting and business modeling. Understanding my strengths allowed me to focus on building confidence in my communication, while identifying the areas for growth, such as financial planning, will help me refine my business for future expansion.

LO2 – Undertaking Challenges and Developing New Skills
The competition was challenging, especially when it came to presenting my idea under pressure and addressing tough questions from the judges. I had to think on my feet, clarify the benefits of my platform, and defend my business model. Overcoming this challenge helped me develop my public speaking and problem-solving skills. I also learned the importance of handling criticism constructively, as it pushed me to improve and better understand the market’s needs. These skills are crucial in business and will help me as I scale “PlanIt.”

LO4 – Demonstrating Commitment and Perseverance
Bringing “PlanIt” from concept to competition required consistent commitment and perseverance. I spent months developing the idea, refining my pitch, and preparing for the competition. The preparation process wasn’t easy, and there were times I doubted the feasibility of my business. However, pushing through these moments and continuing to believe in my idea led to success. This experience reinforced the importance of commitment in entrepreneurship and the power of perseverance when pursuing long-term goals.

Participating in and winning the Shark Tank competition helped me develop as an Inquirer, Risk-taker, and Reflective learner. I pushed myself to present a business idea to experienced entrepreneurs, learned from the feedback, and reflected on how I can improve “PlanIt.” The highlight of this experience was not just winning, but also the sense of validation and accomplishment that came from seeing my idea recognized. This experience has shown me that entrepreneurship requires resilience, strategic thinking, and a willingness to adapt. I will use these lessons to further develop “PlanIt” and continue to grow my entrepreneurial skills, contributing to the event planning industry in innovative ways.
