ISSO Skating

I participated in the ISSO Skating competition with the goal of testing my skating skills and competing at a higher level. I aimed to challenge myself, improve my technique, and experience the dynamics of a competitive sports environment. This event was also an opportunity to learn how to manage nerves, focus under pressure, and push myself beyond my limits.

LO1 – Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth
During the competition, I recognized that my strength lay in my speed and agility on the track, but I realized my technique in certain maneuvers needed improvement. Being aware of my strengths helped me leverage them during the race, while understanding my weaknesses motivated me to focus on refining my form. This reflection allowed me to identify key areas for growth, such as improving my turns and balance, which would directly enhance my performance in future competitions.

LO2 – Undertaking Challenges and Developing New Skills
The competition posed a significant challenge due to the heightened level of skill and intensity of the other participants. The pressure to perform well while maintaining control over my technique was intense. I overcame this challenge by staying focused and calm, reminding myself to stick to my training and not rush the process. This experience taught me the importance of mental resilience and the ability to stay focused under pressure. I also developed better control over my skating technique, which will be beneficial in future races and competitions.

LO4 – Demonstrating Commitment and Perseverance
The preparation for the competition required consistent practice and commitment to improving my skills. On the day of the competition, perseverance was crucial, especially when facing more experienced competitors. The competition pushed me physically and mentally, and I had to stay determined throughout the event. This commitment reinforced the importance of preparation and dedication, showing me that achieving success in any area requires persistence and consistent effort.

Through participating in the ISSO Skating competition, I developed as a Risk-taker, Inquirer, and Reflective learner. I pushed myself to compete at a higher level, learned valuable skills in concentration and balance, and reflected on my performance to identify areas for improvement. The highlight was finishing the race and realizing how much I had grown throughout the experience. This competition deepened my understanding of the need for perseverance, mental focus, and preparation. Moving forward, I’ll apply these lessons in future competitions and sports, using them to drive further growth and success.
