Participating in the interschool table tennis competition held at my school on 31st August 2024 as a representative of my school was an enriching and challenging experience. It tested my abilities, resilience, and teamwork, providing valuable insights into my strengths and areas for growth.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:
Throughout the competition, I was able to identify my strengths, like strategic thinking. However, I also recognized areas that needed improvement such as my ability to maintain focus under pressure. This realization motivated me to refine my techniques and develop a more structured practice routine to enhance my overall performance.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:
Competing against skilled players from different schools pushed me out of my comfort zone. Each match presented unique challenges, requiring me to adapt my strategies quickly. Through perseverance and continuous learning, I developed my ability to overcome these challenges and play under pressure.
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences:
Preparing for the tournament demanded consistent practice and dedication; I have been playing table tennis for the past 2 years due to which I was selected to represent my school this year. Balancing my academic responsibilities with the sport was challenging, but my commitment to improving my game kept me motivated.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:
Although table tennis is often perceived as an individual sport, teamwork played a crucial role in this competition since we were selected as a part of the under-19 team. Encouraging one another helped us stay focused and positive even though we could not win, emphasizing the importance of collaboration even in competitive settings.
