Dil Dhadakne Do – Service

As a part of the service component, I was a part of a Dil Dhadakne Do organization which is created in order to initiate drives and educate young adults and teachers of different schools and colleges about heart diseases and how they can assure that people around them are safe. We educated a certain class of students and old age people about the heart diseases and how they can save old people from the same at home. We taught them about the basic and the first few steps that they can take in order to provide as a basic first-aid to people suffering from any sort of heart attacks or pains.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills: Getting to know about the concept of heart diseases and learning about new skills to make a presentation is something that I got to know from this service. I developed public speaking skills during the service while giving the presentations and also while communicating with my peers. This helped me understand the overview of how presentations are given.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively: I was in a group of 4 peers where I effectively showed by communication and collaboration skills. We together were making the presentations, the social media posts and discussing of what we will speak while giving the presentations. This gave me an opportunity to understand different view points and become more open minded.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance: I connected this service act with SDG 3 – Good health and well being in order to encourage people in my surroundings to become more aware of serious problems related to heart and how they can combat the same or take quick actions for better preventions. This helped me understand how heart diseases over all is a serious issue and that I could actually do something for the same.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions: While presenting our view points and researches, I made sure that we ethically promote our audience to take actions for heart problems. We respected each other in the process of the service and even made sure that this action of ours doesn’t lead to any kind of miscommunication in the audience. We presented information which was true to our experiences and research in order to influence our audience correctly and make them understand only the real part of what the disease can lead to.
