The Farewell event was a special occasion dedicated to celebrating and bidding goodbye to the Grade 12 students. As part of this event, I participated in a dance performance, which required months of practice and preparation. The process of learning, perfecting, and finally performing in front of an audience was both challenging and rewarding. This experience, under Creativity in CAS, allowed me to develop new skills, stay committed to a long-term goal, and collaborate effectively with my fellow performers.

Explanation of Learning Outcomes

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

One of the biggest challenges I faced during this experience was learning and mastering a completely new dance routine. I had limited experience in performing choreographed dances, so I had to work on my coordination, rhythm, and stage presence. Initially, I struggled with memorizing steps and executing them smoothly, but through continuous practice and guidance from choreographers and teammates, I improved significantly. By the end of the journey, I not only performed confidently on stage but also gained a new skill in dance and stage performance.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Preparing for the performance required months of dedication and rehearsals, which were often physically exhausting. There were times when practice sessions felt repetitive and tiring, but I remained committed to refining my movements and synchronizing with my team. Despite the challenges, I attended all rehearsals and put in extra practice outside of scheduled sessions to ensure that I could perform my best. This experience reinforced the value of perseverance and consistency in mastering a creative skill.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Dance is not just about individual performance—it is about synchronization, teamwork, and coordination. This experience taught me how to move in sync with my fellow dancers, maintain formations, and support each other during rehearsals. We worked together to perfect our timing, correct mistakes, and build confidence in our routine. The performance would not have been possible without effective communication, teamwork, and mutual encouragement, which helped us deliver a memorable and well-coordinated performance for the farewell event.

Conclusion

Being part of the farewell dance performance was an incredible and enriching experience. It allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, develop a new creative skill, and understand the importance of perseverance and teamwork. The hard work put into learning and practicing for months paid off when we finally performed on stage in front of the Grade 12 students, making their farewell event even more special. Moving forward, I hope to continue exploring creative activities and participate in more performances that push me to learn and grow.
