As an external CAS project covering all strands, I chose to be part of Event Photography at school. I got a chance to do the photography for all DP events organized throughout the timeline. I was working with Abhishek Shah and Kaniska Virani wherein we’d distribute the events we could attend for photography. We’d attend the events and click pictures in our cameras and phones, and then upload the same online for it to be shared to the senior coordinators for further use. It helped brush up my photography skills and gave me a good experience into the field. I was also able to get help from the school’s official photographers on tips and tricks wherein I could use my camera better. This was one of my most enjoyed CAS project considering photography is my passion and I got to do this extracurricular activity.
Events we captured:

- Independence day celebration
- Kalakriti
- Community service

LO 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I had chosen this project voluntarily since I was always interested in photography and wished to apply my knowledge to something useful. I was able to apply my prior knowledge being photography towards this project while learning new things. It helped me to grow in sectors of portrait photography as well as managing better photo technicalities. The project allowed me to work on my weaknesses in photography as well that I had not identified earlier.
LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
It was a challenge to manage our time well between academics and the photography since I had to take out Saturdays to come to school for some events. However, I gradually worked on managing it well and shifted my schedules to work efficiently at home and also conduct the photography at school. I also had to face challenges with permissions to bring camera to school or to coordinate with event coordinators to send the photos, yet I used communication skills to do the same.
LO 3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.
At the beginning of the year, I planned this project with Pranav sir and other 2 classmates. We made a list of events that we targeted for photography and every time the event was close, we worked towards availing permissions. Our planning supported us in being proactive with the events.
LO 4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
The CAS project required immense dedication to take out time for this as well as cover as many events as possible. I was able to stay committed to my goal to produce quality photographs and provide them to the event coordinators. I also developed my perseverance at times I felt overwhelmed with the work, yet worked harder towards the event photography throughout the year.
LO 5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
Since I was working with 2 other classmates on this project, I was required to communicate with them and DP coordinators before any event. I was able to communicate well and decide on which student could go and capture photos at which event, based on availability. It also helped to cover more events and learn from each other as we had different photography skills.
Overall, this CAS experience turned out to be extremely fruitful and a learning opportunity for me. I was able to develop communication, problem solving, and creative thinking skills through this project. Working with others and the teachers made me more proactive and efficient with my work. I also demonstrated learner profile attributes of Principled, Balanced, and Thinker. I applied them in various scenarios that helped me stay committed to my goal and generate productive outcomes.
This project was one of the best ones in CAS, and I took away a lot with me.
