In November 2024, I took part in a cricket tournament hosted named KCL (Kautilya Cricket League) which was hosted in my tuition. I have always been interested in playing cricket, and so I decided that every year I already play this tournament, so this time also I chose to take this experience as an activity in CAS. This tournament included 8 teams with a round-robin format where each team had to play with 7 League matches each. Our team also escalated to the Eliminator, however we lost it at the end unfortunately.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
In this tournament there were no challenges initially, but our team found a loophole in our team that there was no batsman in the middle order which would stable the innings if early wickets fell. I was the opening batsman in our team and my role was to just give quickfire starts to the innings and just hit the ball till I am playing. In the earlier matches, we were having easy matches as I and my opening partner started really well, like in a match, I hit 24 runs in the very first over of the match which help shift the momentum towards our team. Although in later stages of the tournament problems were visible, which led to bad starts, so in the Eliminator match, I decided to go in the middle order, and the same thing happened which I was worried of. I got out on the 3rd ball of the match and as not a good start was obtained so we eventually lost the match. On the other hand, as stated above, in Turf cricket, I developed a new skill of hitting quickfire runs in the power play and the initial overs which helps the team a lot and it helped me to increase the value for my wicket in the team.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
I was able to cater to this learning outcome in this CAS experience as I was committed in these matches that I played and provided quick starts to the team, in the first 5 matches our average first over score was 18! which was really good in terms of turf cricket. I was also committed in the bowling as, the lesser the runs given in the bowling, the easier was the target achievable.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
A skill that is always developed in tournaments like these is the coordination and also working collaboratively with the team. In this tournament our team was working collaboratively in this tournament. We were helping each other in the tournament, like if a team member is not bowling a good over and runs are being conceded, then all the team members would console him/her which would help the person as well as the team as his motivation would be still there and it helped the team to improve coordination throughout the tournament. Another instance where working collaboratively helped was with me when in a match I could not play a bowler as he was a bit fast to me, so my captain yelled from behind and tried to help by stating that let this over pass and then you can hit on the next one. Hence, I followed him and went on to hit 46 off 23 in that match so I could hit 46 in 17 balls as rest six were in that over that I played. So that is how working collaboratively helped me in this tournament.
Evidence of this tournament:

Conclusion:-
To conclude, this 2 day tournament was a really good experience for me and helped me develop new skills and cater all the learning outcomes in the CAS experience.
