Rural Immersion- Mokhamal Dang- Service

I had the opportunity to visit Mokhamal Dang, where I engaged in various service activities to support underprivileged children and their families. During this trip, I helped cook food, ensuring the children received warm and nutritious meals. Additionally, I contributed to painting their houses, making their living environment more vibrant and welcoming. To further support their education, I donated books, stationery, and other essential learning materials. This experience was deeply meaningful as it allowed me to make a direct and positive impact on the lives of those in need.

LO1: Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Personal Growth

Through this experience, I recognized my strength in leadership and empathy. I was able to work efficiently in a team, manage tasks, and support those in need. However, I also realized that I needed to improve my ability to adapt to unfamiliar situations and work under challenging conditions. Cooking for a large group and painting houses required patience and teamwork, helping me grow in practical problem-solving and adaptability.

LO2: Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills in the Process

One of the major challenges was cooking food in large quantities with limited resources. This required coordination, teamwork, and efficient time management. Additionally, painting houses was physically demanding, requiring attention to detail and perseverance. Overcoming these challenges helped me develop practical skills in cooking, painting, and resource management, along with the ability to remain patient and focused in demanding situations.

LO4: Show Commitment to and Perseverance in CAS Experiences

Serving the community required dedication and sustained effort. The work was physically exhausting, but I remained committed to ensuring that our tasks were completed successfully. Even when faced with challenges such as fatigue, time constraints, and adjusting to a different environment, I continued to give my best effort, understanding the importance of perseverance in making a meaningful impact.

LO6: Demonstrate Engagement With Issues of Global Significance

The service trip exposed me to issues of poverty, lack of education, and inadequate living conditions. Witnessing these challenges firsthand reinforced the importance of taking action to bridge socioeconomic gaps. By providing food, improving living spaces, and donating educational materials, I actively contributed to reducing inequality and promoting sustainable community development—both of which align with global efforts to support marginalized communities.

LO7: Recognize and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions

Throughout the experience, I was mindful of the ethical responsibility of service work. It was important to offer help with respect and dignity, ensuring that our actions were genuinely beneficial rather than imposing external solutions. I was conscious of working collaboratively with the local community, valuing their culture, and respecting their way of life. This experience reinforced the importance of ethical volunteering—serving with empathy, integrity, and a genuine desire to uplift others without reinforcing dependency.
