Monsoon Musings – Creativity

In my very first year in the diploma programme , I had an enriching opportunity to take part in a very thought stimulating event, The Monsoon Musings. This event happened to add a bright spark to my creative side, also being the one to instigate it.

As someone who was always fond of writing her expressions on a crisp paper, I never really gave it a thought of putting the words written by me into speech, until the happening of Monsoon Musings got to my ears.I took this exciting prospect and had a chance to showcase and moreover share my literary skills with the like minded ones.

LO1 : Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth

Well after having decided that I actually do want to participate in this event, I started with identifying my own strengths which would increase the efficiency of my performance.

The Strengths –

  • Putting thoughts, ideas , experiences and emotions into creative expression
  • Precision and Accuracy of how well my words are being put forth and conveyed

The Weaknesses

  • Time Management – writing a literary piece can never be a one way route. In order for one to be satisfied enough with their piece , they need to experience multiple routes of ideas and thoughts. That being said, I personally found it difficult to juggle with the time. Having took about half an hour to write 4 lines, and taking about a second to just eliminate it was quite frustrating in itself. The process throughout felt time consuming making me realise how i need to have a proper and planned layout of the timeline in order to monitor progress.

LO2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

ADAPTABILITY – Having thoughts can be one thing and putting them into words being another. During the process of preparation , I could analyse how I found it challenging to adapt to the new changes and revisions I had been making with my lines. This made me realise how I found adaptability challenging and also made me learn to respond to it in a much more positive manner. Lastly on the day of the event, it was very heartwarming hearing my fellow mates and the teachers putting forth their beautiful ideas to words.

All in all , i got to acquire a major deal of learning and exploration , having understood and leaving a prompt to analyse my strengths , weaknesses as well as the challenges which i faced ,and it was great having chosen Monsoon Musings – A literary event as a CAS experience.
