FS GOT TALENT

The 2024 FS Got Talent was a splendid display of emotion, creativity and performance. During this event, I was able to witness the school community coming together in order to celebrate a diverse set of talent. I was able to take the stage as a performer that day, singing a song about 3 mins long, and while I did not win, I am still thankful for the opportunity presented to me to portray my skills.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:

I applied this during my entire performance and also during the preparation stage. I initially spent a lot of time searching for a song that was in my scale, and also under 3 minutes. I spent so much time on this task that I finally found an adequate one with just 1 day left to spare for the competition. However, I was already familiar with this song and hence it didn’t take me a long time to learn it, but I could’ve done better if I had chosen my song priorly. This taught me that I need to be better at managing my time and also to plan things beforehand in order to be more prepared in the future. Hence, this mistake of mine during preparation for the 2024 FS GOT TALENT helped me learn and develop so that this could be avoided in the future.

For my strengths, I actively applied my memory in order to learn the song lyrics, background melody, and track within a span of 1 day. While I did not make effective use of my time before, after finalizing the song, I was able to work towards learning it restlessly, listening to it repeatedly, memorizing all its nuances and also adding my personal touch to it, based on the song category.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:

I have never really been very comfortable on a stage. Hence, the area that was the most challenging for me was the actual performance rather than the preparation for it. Thus, I avoided thinking about that for as long as possible during my rehearsal up until the day of the competition. However, going onto the stage allowed me to develop a new skill, which was confidence, since while I didn’t win, I actually did pretty good.

Another issue that came up during my performance was that the background track that was supposed to be played did not. There was an error on the technical side, and the track did not play for several more minutes, while I was on stage waiting for it to be played. Finally, when the track played it was quite unexpected, which caused me to lose my place in the music, causing me to request it be played again. This was quite unfortunate, however, it helped me develop another skill, which is being calm and rational under pressure. Overall, participating in this event was a novel experience, and it helped me grow immensely as a person.
