To celebrate the graduating Grade 12 students, we organized a farewell event. I was part of the dance committee and performed in two 10-minute dance routines as part of the entertainment. In the weeks leading up to the event, we practiced regularly to perfect our performance. On the day of the farewell, I also helped with decorations. It was a great experience that required teamwork, dedication, and commitment.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Being part of the farewell dance performance made me identify my ability to learn choreography and perform confidently in front of an audience. Also, I struggled with complex steps, which took extra effort to perfect. This experience helped me recognize my strengths in coordination and rhythm while also showing me that I need to work on my stamina and precision in movement.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Performing in front of a large audience seemed terrifying, but I still took up the challenge. Learning and memorizing the choreography required patience and dedication. I had to wake up early every day for practice which was a challenge for me. Also, since I missed some academic slots of rehearsals, I had to manage my time effectively and ensure to cover up my learning loss. Through this experience, I learned how to balance multiple commitments.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
Dedication was required to prepare for the event. We had to come early almost every working day. I consistently showed up to early and committedly learned the dance. Despite the effort and time cmomitment, I remained focused and gave my best, showing perseverance in preparing for the event.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
The dance was a group performance, so teamwork was required. We had to coordinate our movements and maintain proper formations. We supported each other throughout the rehearsals and helped each other learn the complex steps. We understood the importance ofcollaboration to achieve a shared goal. By working together, we ensured that the performance went smoothly. The 12th graders enjoyed our dance performance!
