Global Odyssey 5.0 was an incredible experience! I had the opportunity to run a food stall, selling a variety of treats from coffee and cookies to loaded nachos and sev puri. It was a challenging but rewarding venture:
LO3- Initiate and plan a CAS experience
The entire process required significant planning, from deciding the menu to setting up the stall. I had to consider logistics like sourcing ingredients, managing inventory, and ensuring smooth operations during the event. Initiating this activity taught me the importance of preparation and the ability to anticipate potential challenges.
LO4- Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, especially with the long hours and the pressure to keep up with demand. However, I remained committed to the stall and persevered through the difficulties. This experience reinforced the value of dedication and hard work in achieving a goal.
LO5- Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
I worked with a team of friends, and each of us had specific responsibilities, from food preparation to customer service. This collaborative effort highlighted the importance of communication, coordination, and mutual support in achieving a common objective.
LO6- Engagement with issues of global significance.
Beyond the culinary aspect, this project allowed me to engage with a larger issue: supporting individuals with disabilities. I decided to donate a portion of the funds to an NGO, which works to empower people with disabilities. This connection made the experience even more meaningful, as it allowed me to contribute to a cause.
LO7- Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
Throughout the project, I had to consider the ethical implications of my decisions. This included ensuring fair pricing, maintaining food safety standards, and being transparent about the donation. It made me realize the importance of acting responsibly and considering the impact of my actions on others.
My experience at Global Odyssey 5.0 was a valuable learning opportunity that allowed me to develop new skills, work collaboratively, and contribute to a meaningful cause. I am grateful for the experience and the lessons I learned.
