Volunteering for Play2Beat Cancer pickleball tournament was a truly rewarding experience. Although I couldn’t be there on match day, I contributed by booking courts and organizing match fixtures. Knowing that my work played a small role in supporting cancer patients made it all the more meaningful.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
Setting up the tournament fixtures wasn’t as simple as it seemed I had to balance fair matchups, manage court availability, and work around scheduling constraints. This experience sharpened my problem-solving skills and taught me the importance of attention to detail in planning events.
LO3: Initiate and plan a CAS experience.
Handling court bookings and scheduling required me to take the lead and ensure everything was in place before match day. Coordinating with venue authorities and organizers gave me insight into the behind-the-scenes work of sports management and the value of being proactive.
LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
Even though I wasn’t physically present at the tournament, I made sure all the logistics were set. There were last-minute changes that required quick thinking and flexibility, reinforcing the importance of staying committed and adapting to challenges.
LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
I worked closely with the tournament organizers to align match timings, keep players informed, and ensure smooth communication. This experience highlighted how essential teamwork and clear coordination are in pulling off a successful event.
This experience improved my organisational and problem-solving skills and showed me how impactful behind-the-scenes efforts can be.
