Recently i had the opportunity to participate in an event that my school hosts every year called “FS got talent”. Its a event where students show case their talent, or moreover participate whatever their interested in doing, for which me and two other friends of mine put up a food stall. We sold nachos, iced tea, and muffins. My intention for doing this activity was so that we could donate the profit to an NGO, but because we did’nt generate profit that could not be possible, regardless of that it was overall a fun event.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
By participating in this event it helped me in identifying my strengths and develop areas of growth. As a student we learn every day and this project helped me identify of how I have the ability to hold the group together, and while working in a group with other people, there may be times everyone might not be able to land up on the same grounds and agree to one thing all together, where I noticed my self helping my group mates do so and make everyone agree to one thing my communicating it. Something I learned from this project was how I lack time management skills, and it is something I have to focus. Improving my time management will not only help me in such school events but also in academics and future projects. I realized that planning in advance, setting deadlines, and distributing responsibilities more effectively could have improved our outcomes. Even though we could not donate to the NGO, the experience taught me that growth is a process, and every setback is a learning step. I now aim to balance teamwork with better organization.
LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Initiating and planning this CAS experience required thoughtful coordination and clear decision-making. Once my friends and I decided to set up a food stall for FS Got Talent, we began by discussing what items to sell, considering factors like cost, preparation time, and what students would likely enjoy. We created a small plan that included dividing responsibilities—such as who would arrange ingredients, who would handle the stall setup, and who would manage pricing and decorations. I took initiative by helping organise these tasks and ensuring that everyone understood their roles. We also planned our budget in advance, keeping in mind our goal to donate the profits to an NGO. Although our financial outcome did not go as expected, the entire process taught me the importance of pre-planning, budgeting, and assigning roles clearly. Through this experience, I learned how to turn an idea into action by structuring it step-by-step and anticipating challenges that might arise.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
Even though our stall did not generate profit as planned, I remained committed throughout the entire event. From the preparation stage of buying ingredients and setting up the stall to serving customers during the event, I stayed actively engaged and motivated. There were moments when sales were slower than expected, but I did not lose interest or give up. Instead, I kept working with my group, encouraging them to stay positive and continue giving our best effort. This experience showed me the importance of perseverance, as commitment to the process itself is as valuable as the final outcome.
LO6- Engagement with issues of global significance
Through this CAS experience, I engaged with the broader global issue of social responsibility and community support. Our intention to donate the profits to an NGO connected our small school event to a larger effort of contributing to social welfare, which is a significant issue worldwide. Many communities across the globe rely on charitable initiatives and youth-led contributions to support education, healthcare, and basic needs. Even though we were unable to generate profit, the planning process made me more aware of how meaningful actions—no matter how small—can contribute to addressing global challenges. It also helped me understand how grassroots initiatives and student-led efforts can create awareness and inspire others to contribute. This experience encouraged me to think beyond personal benefit and reflect on my role as a global citizen, recognizing that ethical intentions and efforts towards helping others are steps toward making a positive impact.
LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
While participating in FS Got Talent, one of our main intentions was to donate the profit from our food stall to an NGO. Even though we could not achieve this goal due to the lack of profit, it made me reflect on the ethical responsibility of contributing positively to society. I realized that when we commit to a cause, it is important to plan realistically so that our actions can create a meaningful impact. This experience also made me more mindful of honesty and transparency, as we acknowledged the outcome instead of claiming success that did not occur. This experience helped me understand that ethics is not only about achieving results but also about the process and intentions behind our actions. Even though we couldn’t make the donation, the effort to contribute was genuine, and that in itself holds value. I also learned to be more conscious about fairness in pricing and quality of food, since as sellers we had a responsibility to provide customers with good service and maintain trust.
