With the increasing popularity of Pickleball as a dynamic, yet very inclusive, sport, I have recently joined a local tournament to challenge my skills and engage in a community activity that combines sports with fitness and collaboration. This event helped me step out of my comfort zone because I only really began playing this sport in recent months. It not only allowed me to apply what I learned through practice but gave me an avenue to meet new players, share strategies, and enjoy the competitive yet friendly atmosphere surrounding the matches.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth Screen reader support enabled.
This activity helped me realize my key strengths: determination, quick reflexes, and adaptability. My ability to stay calm and composed during intense matches became one of my biggest assets. However, I recognized areas where improvement was needed, and those were consistency and precision during rallies. Participating in the tournament helped me become more aware of my learning process, how to turn constructive feedback into growth, and how regular practice could translate into visible progress.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
More significantly, as a complete beginner, joining the tournament was a big challenge itself because it required not only mastering the basic rules of the game but also learning more advanced strategies and techniques in such a short period of time. The served balls were difficult for me to control, and it was hard to predict how opponents would shoot. With time, disciplined practice, and observation of others’ playing, I improved in hand-eye coordination, developed good footwork, and started to be tactical during the game. Competition with more experienced players increased my mental resilience and ability to solve certain problems in a stressful situation.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
There were times in the tournament when, after losing a few matches or committing unforced errors, I felt discouraged, yet I was determined to continue giving my best. My consistent participation in training sessions and commitment to improving small aspects of my game every day reflected perseverance. Even when the environment turned competitive, I reminded myself of my initial goal-to stay active, learn a new sport, and enjoy the process of self-improvement.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
Such doubles matches needed communication, trust, and cooperation with my partner at every moment. We had to coordinate movements, plan our strategies, and support each other through wins and losses. This experience made me aware of how collaboration enhances both better performance and motivation. I learned important things such as mutual respect, listening, and adjusting to my teammate’s style of play. Our partnership on the court mirrored real-life teamwork, where cooperation, encouragement, and shared effort lead to success
