Global Odyssey 5.0 Decor- Creativity

Being part of the decor team for Global Odyssey was an experience I was really excited about. I enjoy hands-on creative work, and this was a great opportunity to contribute my artistic skills to make the venue lively and welcoming. My role was focused on creating and assembling decorations, helping bring the “Food, Fun, and Games” theme to life. I spent time cutting triangles for banners, arranging hanging decorations, and crafting other visual elements. Seeing these pieces come together and add to the overall atmosphere of the event was extremely rewarding.

LO2: Demonstrating that Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills

Working on the decorations came with several challenges. Cutting, arranging, and assembling decorations to match the theme required patience, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving. Some tasks, like making sure the banners were uniform and hung correctly, were trickier than I expected. I had to adapt my approach while working with limited materials and time. Completing these tasks helped me develop practical skills in crafting, organization, and executing creative ideas. On the day of the event, quick adjustments were needed to ensure everything looked polished, which strengthened my problem-solving skills and adaptability.

LO4: Showing Perseverance and Commitment in CAS Experience

The preparation for Global Odyssey required consistent effort over several weeks. Balancing schoolwork with early mornings and free periods spent cutting banners, assembling decorations, and helping teammates was challenging. Even when it felt tiring or overwhelming, I stayed committed to completing my tasks on time. This experience strengthened my perseverance, responsibility, and time management, as I worked diligently to contribute effectively to the project.

LO7: Recognise and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions

While working on the decorations, I also considered sustainability. We reused materials, such as leftover paper and jars, to minimize waste while still creating visually appealing designs. This reinforced the importance of making responsible choices and showed me how creativity can go hand in hand with ethical decision-making.

LO5: Demonstrate Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively

Working in the decor team highlighted the importance of collaboration. I coordinated with teammates, assisted others who struggled with certain tasks, and ensured that my contributions aligned with the overall design. Supporting each other made the process smoother and more enjoyable. This experience demonstrated how teamwork, communication, and shared effort can make a creative project more successful.

Conclusion

Overall, contributing to the Global Odyssey decor was a rewarding CAS experience. Cutting triangles for banners, assembling decorations, and helping my teammates allowed me to apply my artistic skills while developing problem-solving, perseverance, and collaboration skills. Balancing schoolwork with decorating tasks was challenging, but it was fulfilling to see how our efforts transformed the venue into a vibrant and welcoming space for everyone.
