I worked on the Garba Fest decor crew, which created handcrafted, colourful decorations to add to the celebratory ambiance. Our goal was to design and decorate the area with vibrant colours and decorations. Every stage required careful consideration and collaboration, from organising the colour palettes to cutting, painting, and setting up the materials. Our team collaborated throughout the process to make our vision a reality, turning the location into a vibrant and inviting area. I was able to participate to a celebration of culture as well as unity and use my creativity in a useful way.
LO1 Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth
I identified a number of my particular talents during this experience, including creativity, teamwork, and attention to detail. To make the decorations unique, I liked playing with different colours, patterns, and textures. I also discovered that I perform effectively when generating design concepts and collaborating with others on imaginative choices. But since it was difficult to juggle several decorating projects on a limited timetable, I realised that I needed to work on my time management and organising abilities. I had to immediately modify my plans or finish duties sooner than anticipated in certain situations, which aided in my development of adaptability. By considering these factors, I was able to have a better understanding of how to increase my productivity and preparation for next group tasks.
LO4 Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
Over a period of several weeks, the whole process took constant commitment, tolerance, and work. I was actively involved and made sure that my tasks were finished on schedule from the first planning meetings to the last setup day. Sometimes things did not go as planned, we had to make inventive alterations since some supplies were not available. I remained driven and focused to complete the assignment as best I could in spite of these obstacles. I kept reminding myself of the happiness the decorations will bring to others, even when the workload felt exhausting. I felt proud and accomplished after finishing the setup and witnessing the finished product, which reaffirmed the value of hard work and commitment.
LO5 Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
One of the best and greatest parts of this experience was working as a team. Our group’s teamwork was strengthened by the distinct thoughts and abilities that each member contributed. We effectively distributed our tasks, some worked on creating the primary decorative components, while others concentrated on arrangement and fine details. We were able to keep organised and prevent disagreements because I learnt how to listen intently and accept differing viewpoints. Even though we occasionally disagreed on design decisions, we always managed to come to an agreement and select the best options as a group. I gained an understanding of how teamwork develops creativity and increases project performance compared to working alone thanks to this collaboration.
