TOK Exhibition – CAS Project

For my CAS project, I undertook the responsibility of organising the TOK Exhibition, where Grade 12 students presented their commentaries to Grade 11 classes. The event involved 14 presenters rotating across 7 TOK classrooms, with each pair delivering a 12-minute presentation followed by a short Q&A session. My tasks included preparing a detailed classroom schedule, grouping students into batches, informing DPTs and participants, arranging necessary resources, and sending reminders in advance. I also oversaw the collection of feedback forms from Grade 11 students to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the exhibition.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I recognised my strength in designing clear, structured plans that ensured the smooth running of the event. At the same time, I realised I need to improve at handling last-minute changes such as absent presenters or unexpected timing issues.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
A key challenge was coordinating multiple people and schedules while making sure every classroom was covered. I developed stronger organisational and problem-solving skills by learning to anticipate overlaps and adapt the plan quickly.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience
I took initiative by drafting the full event plan, coordinating with teachers, communicating with all 14 presenters, and setting up the Grade 11 feedback process. This required planning well ahead of time and breaking the work into manageable steps.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The preparation stretched over several weeks, requiring constant follow-ups, updates, and adjustments to fit changes. My persistence ensured that all details were accounted for and every participant stayed informed.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Although I led the organisation, collaboration was crucial. I worked closely with presenters, DPTs, and student volunteers, relying on clear communication and sharing responsibilities to keep the event running smoothly.

Organising the TOK Exhibition was a rewarding experience that challenged my planning and teamwork abilities. Balancing communication between teachers and students, keeping track of many moving parts, and adapting to last-minute changes taught me that preparation and coordination are just as important as the presentations themselves. Most importantly, I learned that effective teamwork makes any event more impactful and efficient.
