The Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Challenge 2024 – Project

The Young Entrepreneur of the Year Challenge 2024, hosted by Invictus International School in Amritsar, was an incredible opportunity to blend critical thinking, innovation, and teamwork. This prestigious entrepreneurship competition allowed me to put my passion for sustainability into action by developing a startup that benefits the environment. Throughout this journey, I experienced immense personal and professional growth, embracing various roles and responsibilities that tested my abilities and strengthened my understanding of entrepreneurship.

As part of the challenge, my team and I founded a startup called Oikos, which provided eco-consulting services to households and businesses, helping them adopt sustainable practices to protect the environment. I had the privilege of serving as the CEO of Oikos, leading the team in creating innovative strategies to promote environmental sustainability.

LO1. Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

This challenge pushed me to reflect on my strengths and weaknesses. I recognized my ability to think creatively and analyze problems critically, which helped in developing a sustainable business model. However, I also identified areas for improvement, such as time management and delegation, which I worked on throughout the competition. Through continuous self-reflection, I honed my leadership skills and became more confident in my decision-making abilities.

LO2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

Participating in this competition was no easy feat, as it required extensive research, problem-solving, and strategic planning. One of the biggest challenges was finding innovative ways to make our startup truly sustainable while ensuring its feasibility in the real world. I developed new skills in market analysis, financial forecasting, and public speaking, which helped me present our startup effectively to the judges. Overcoming these challenges enhanced my adaptability and resilience.

LO3. Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

From the outset, my team and I planned each step of our startup’s development. We conducted brainstorming sessions, researched market trends, and analyzed potential challenges. This experience reinforced the importance of structured planning and execution. Each decision was backed by thorough research, ensuring that our startup aligned with both environmental sustainability and business viability.

LO4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Throughout the competition, there were moments of doubt and setbacks. However, our dedication and perseverance kept us going. We spent countless hours refining our business model, preparing presentations, and gathering feedback to improve our ideas. This commitment ultimately paid off as we secured the Gold Finalist Award, a recognition of our hard work and determination.

LO5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

A key takeaway from this experience was the significance of teamwork. Working closely with my teammates allowed us to leverage each other’s strengths and divide responsibilities effectively. We communicated openly, resolved conflicts efficiently, and supported one another, which was crucial to our success. This collaborative effort not only strengthened our project but also enriched our learning experience.

LO6. Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

Our startup aimed to address environmental sustainability, a pressing global concern. By developing a business model focused on eco-friendly solutions, we contributed to the broader conversation about sustainable entrepreneurship. This experience deepened my understanding of global issues and reinforced my commitment to making a positive impact on the environment through innovative business strategies.

LO7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

As a young entrepreneur,I had to carefully consider the ethical implications of our business decisions. We ensured that our startup adhered to ethical business practices, such as using sustainable materials, maintaining transparency, and promoting fair trade. Recognizing the impact of our choices on both people and the planet was an integral part of our project, making us more conscientious decision-makers.
