Hindi Immersion 2024

Since I was a little child, learning and exploring the Hindi language has been among my hobbies. Attending seminars, exhibitions, and events where I can discover more about this topic is something I constantly look forward to. In keeping with my passion for the subject and my goal to raise awareness about honouring and celebrating our country’s official language, I took part in the Hindi Immersion Event 2024, a popular event at our school that gives students the chance to learn the language and engage in exciting activities. At this event, eleventh-grade students prepare engaging exercises, puzzles, and other activities related to Hindi and put up multiple booths where other students can visit and learn more about the language.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

I started looking for ideas for activities that would be a perfect fit with the event’s theme as soon as I started getting ready to set up my stall. My classmate and I decided to set up a booth at the event together. It was rather difficult to come up with the ideal activity for the occasion because, after looking into activities online, I came up with a few common concepts that were typically present at events of this kind. After that, I made the decision to design a game by myself, which took some time because my supervisor recommended that I make a number of modifications to certain aspects of the task. However, in the end, I had a fascinating game in front of me that I found to be really gripping and entertaining. I was able to learn a lot about the language while searching for ideas. Who is the father of Hindi, for instance? Or when was the language designated as India’s official language? Because I had to regularly speak with my classmate and event supervisor about the event, I developed my communication skills and became more open-minded. Since I had to successfully manage schoolwork, event preparation, and extracurricular activities, time management was one of the most crucial skills I acquired.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

Planning an event is about taking deliberate steps starting with a vision, working collaboratively, and executing the plan while adapting as needed to ensure success. I started planning the booth by coming up with original concepts that matched the overall mood of the event and would both engage and inform attendees. To refine the idea and determine roles and responsibilities, I talked about these concepts with my partner in this experience. After we had a clear strategy, I asked our teachers for their approval to make sure it was engaging enough for the attendees. My partner and I collaborated to set up the booth on the day of the event, organising supplies and decorations to make it both visually appealing and functional. I engaged in enthusiastic communication with guests throughout the event to make sure they had a good time and learnt something important about the theme. After the event, we evaluated how we worked together, the comments from those who attended, and how we may get better in the future.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

Working with a partner for the Hindi Immersion booth was both a challenge and a valuable learning experience. At times, our views on how to present the booth didn’t align, but we overcame this by listening to each other patiently. This taught me the importance of valuing different perspectives to create better outcomes. Additionally, I seeked feedback from friends and parents before the event, which helped refine the activities and make it more engaging for attendees. Our teachers played a vital role as well, providing constructive feedback and guidance throughout the planning process. Collaborating with others not only enhanced the quality of our work but also strengthened my teamwork and communication skills.

The Hindi Immersion event was a rewarding experience that taught me the value of collaboration, creativity, and adaptability. From brainstorming ideas to engaging with attendees, every step was an opportunity to learn and grow. Seeking feedback, and incorporating guidance from teachers helped create a successful and meaningful experience. This event reinforced the importance of teamwork and open-mindedness, skills that I’ll carry forward into future projects.
