Garba Fest

Garba Fest, one of the most awaited events that allows us to engage in our cultural celebrations filled with fun, enjoyment and excitement. Personally, navratri is my favourite festival and every year I fill with excitement as soon as the festival of navratri gets near. This time, I participated in a garba fest at school where I convinced my friends to come with me. We all had enjoyable moments and shared a great time dancing together.

LO 1:  Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

One of the strengths was I was already aware of garba steps and knew dancing and hence I really didn’t have to learn or put any effort in regard to the same but on the other hand, I don’t have a strong stamina. During the event, although I knew the dance of garba, because of my stamina, I used to get tired quickly which was one of the areas where I could develop. Even though I used to get exhausted quickly, I still managed to do garba for a long period of time and I enjoyed it a lot.

LO 5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

There was a lot of crowd gathered in a small space in the event and collaboration and coordination was required as we all had to dance in a small space. As everyone had a small room to dance, I had to learn to adjust in the provided space, accommodate myself in the space and adapt to the changes in steps and positions. Coordination was also required so that everyone’s steps are aligned with each other to avoid collision which would otherwise create chaos. To avoid these, I used to observe the steps and rhythmic movement of people around me so that we all are coordinated and synchronized. The collaboration and adaptability made it successful despite limited availability of space.

LO 4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Commitment and perseverance both were required throughout as performing garba for hours needs dedication and stamina. As mentioned before, stamina was something I lacked a little as I used to get tired and during the event. At the end I felt like I was really exhausted and I had reached my limit, however, when the fun part of all started : dakhla, sanedo and DJ on bollywood songs, the energy struck me and I couldn’t resist but quickly joined my friends despite exhaustion in this and pushed myself until the very end. The joy and the excitement reignited in me which made me push my boundaries and participate in the dance till last.

In conclusion, though I struggled with my stamina at the start and faced challenges in regard to the space available, I was able to manage through the challenges and made memorable moments of my life. The atmosphere and the liveliness of the event made me really enthusiastic and the fun that I had dancing with my friends was worthwhile.
