Dancing into Goodbyes: A Farewell Experience to Remember CAS Blog – Creativity & Activity

As part of the CAS journey, few experiences have been as meaningful and memorable as performing for the Grade 12 Farewell. Being on the dance team gave me the opportunity to express myself creatively, connect with peers, and contribute to an event that marked a significant milestone for our seniors.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Preparing for the farewell performance helped me recognize my strengths in rhythm, coordination, and stage presence. At the same time, I became more aware of areas I needed to work on, like stamina and group synchronization. Taking constructive feedback during rehearsals helped me improve and grow both as a dancer and a team member.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Our team practiced consistently over several weeks, often staying after school to perfect our routine. Despite challenges like time constraints and occasional scheduling conflicts, I remained committed to attending every rehearsal and giving my best. That persistence paid off when we finally performed on stage—it was rewarding to see our effort come to life.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Working with a group of passionate and talented dancers was both exciting and challenging. From coordinating steps to managing differences in dance styles and pace, we had to collaborate closely. Through communication, compromise, and mutual encouragement, we built strong team dynamics and created a seamless performance together.

LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
Throughout the process, we were mindful of the music, costumes, and choreography, ensuring they were appropriate for a respectful farewell event. We wanted our performance to celebrate the seniors in a way that was tasteful and meaningful, honoring their journey without crossing any boundaries.

Performing at the farewell was more than just a dance—it was a heartfelt tribute to those who have inspired us. It reminded me that CAS isn’t just about completing experiences, but about creating memories, building community, and growing as a person.
