Robinhood Army – service

I participated in food distribution drives with Robin Hood Army, a national organization that aims to eradicate hunger by collecting surplus food from large events and donating it to those in need. They also accept fresh food from donors who wish to contribute and act as a medium for these donations. These drives contributed to my personal growth, making me more empathetic and grateful than I was before.

LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

A team is always about collaboration, working together, and understanding each other’s aspirations and goals. This was something I learned while working with Robin Hood Army. The people I worked with came from different ages, professions, and backgrounds, but we all had one thing in common—a willingness to help others. This resulted in a shared, equal, and enthusiastic effort from everyone, making the task much more productive. Teamwork is never about one person alone; it is about sharing ideas and perspectives, which makes a team a unique and creative working body.

LO 6 -Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

The global issues addressed here are poverty and hunger. These two are interconnected because, in today’s world, access to food often depends on financial resources. To help combat hunger in my locality, I dedicated my time to serving food to those in need alongside others. This experience helped me understand the severity of the issue, which, from my room, had seemed like a distant global problem but is actually a persistent reality in my own community. It opened my eyes, grounded me, and humbled me, helping me realize that change starts from where you are.

LO4 – Commitment to Challenges and Perseverance

Participating in food distribution drives with Robin Hood Army required dedication and resilience. Collecting and distributing food in difficult conditions, managing large crowds, and ensuring fair distribution were challenges I faced. Despite this, I remained committed to the cause.Through this experience, I learned that meaningful work requires patience and perseverance. Seeing the impact of our efforts made every challenge worthwhile. It strengthened my sense of responsibility and deepened my connection to the community, reinforcing the idea that even small actions can create meaningful change.

LO7 – Ethics of Choices and Actions

Working with Robin Hood Army made me reflect on the ethical responsibility of reducing food waste and helping those in need. Instead of letting surplus food go to waste, we ensured it reached people struggling with hunger. This experience reinforced the importance of making ethical choices that benefit society.I also realized that dignity matters—distributing food respectfully, without making recipients feel lesser, was just as important as the act itself. This taught me that ethical actions go beyond good intentions; they require sensitivity, respect, and a commitment to doing what is right.
