Garba Fest food Stall

When the School organised a Garba fest, I with 2 of my friends were given a opportunity to keep a food stall in the event and serve the students and staff attending the fest. It was a pretty good experience serving other.

LOI 3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.

Initiating and planning the food stall for the Garba Fest required meticulous preparation and clear delegation of responsibilities to ensure its success. My first step was to brainstorm ideas with my friends about the types of food we could sell that would appeal to both students and staff. We decided to offer a mix of homemade and store-bought items, including snacks, desserts, and beverages, keeping in mind dietary preferences and ease of preparation.

Next, I created a detailed plan outlining what each of us needed to do. This plan included:

  1. Menu Selection and Budgeting: Listing items to sell and estimating the cost of ingredients or purchases to ensure affordability while maintaining quality.
  2. Responsibilities: Dividing tasks among the three of us. For instance, one friend focused on purchasing supplies, another took charge of preparing certain dishes, and I managed logistics, like setting up the stall and marketing the event to attendees.
  3. Time Management: Establishing a timeline for preparation and delivery, ensuring that everything would be ready on the event day.
  4. Presentation: Planning how the food stall would look, from decoration to arrangement, to attract attendees.

We also had contingency plans in place, such as sourcing extra food in case of higher-than-expected demand. Throughout the planning process, I ensured that we communicated regularly to address challenges, adjust responsibilities if needed, and stay on track. This proactive approach laid the foundation for a well-organized and successful food stall

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

Commitment and perseverance were essential throughout the process, from preparation to execution. Preparing food required significant effort, especially since we had to balance this with our academic responsibilities. I stayed committed by ensuring I contributed equally to tasks like shopping for ingredients, cooking, and transporting items to school.

On the day of the event, challenges arose, such as managing a large crowd of customers and ensuring we didn’t run out of food too early. I maintained focus and energy, ensuring every guest was served efficiently and with a smile. Even when the event became hectic, I remained calm and adapted to the situation by reorganizing tasks on the spot, such as assigning one friend to handle money and another to restock items on display.

This experience tested my ability to stay committed, even when faced with obstacles. For example, waking up early to prepare fresh items or staying late after the event to clean up required perseverance. I learned that dedication to the process and attention to detail are vital in achieving success. This commitment not only ensured the event ran smoothly but also made the experience more meaningful, as I saw firsthand the impact of our hard work on the attendees’ enjoyment.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

In a bake sale fundraiser, working collaboratively enhances the event’s success by developing skills like communication, coordination, and problem-solving. Tasks like baking, promoting, and managing the stall are shared, allowing team members to leverage each other’s strengths. Collaboration improves efficiency, fosters motivation, and encourages creative ideas, leading to a smoother event. By working together, the team can overcome challenges and ensure the fundraiser’s success, demonstrating the importance of cooperation and shared responsibility.

The bake sale fundraiser was a valuable experience that helped me develop skills in teamwork, time management, and problem-solving. It taught me the importance of commitment and perseverance, as I overcame challenges and stayed focused on the goal. The event also improved my communication skills and gave me a deeper understanding of working collaboratively to achieve success. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that helped me grow personally and contribute to a meaningful cause.
