I was a part of the committee for teachers day and gave my 100% to make this a memorable event for my teachers.
LO 1 – Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
Preparing a dance performance for Teacher’s Day and conducting a science slot for juniors allowed me to recognize my strengths and areas for growth. Organizing the dance with my peers required creativity, coordination, and leadership. I discovered that I am good at planning and ensuring teamwork, but I also realized I could improve my patience and adaptability when handling last-minute changes.During the science slot, where we posed as teachers, I developed confidence in public speaking and explaining concepts clearly. I learned that I enjoy teaching and can engage younger students effectively, but I also identified the need to improve my ability to simplify complex ideas. These experiences helped me grow in communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
For our Teacher’s Day celebration, we planned a whole lesson for grade 10 students, posing as science teachers and helping them understand scientific concepts in an engaging way. Through this, I understood the importance of effective and engaging planning that would not bore the students but instead ignite their interest in the subject. First, I turned to Google to gather some ideas and shortlisted a few with my peers. Then, I asked my friends and science teachers for feedback to see if they liked the ideas. This process helped me gain new perspectives. After that, I finalized two activities: Jeopardy and a treasure hunt. These activities were a combination of fun and critical thinking.
LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
For the dance we performed, it took a lot of effort to ensure that everyone learned the steps and executed the routine in perfect synchronization. This required patience, a willingness to learn, and cooperation from everyone. Since we started practicing early in the morning, it also meant stepping out of our comfort zones and arriving at school earlier than usual—including me. However, a group dance required collective effort and practice, so I attended rehearsals every day to make sure my performance did not affect the overall routine. I helped others, and they helped me, which contributed to making our dance a successful performance.
