Being a part of the bal mela organized by our school was a very fun experience, this event aimed to bring joy to children from different types of schools through engaging activities and games. As volunteers, we had a task to make them play games , and my role was to supervise the football shooting game. My primary responsibility was to ensure that the children not only had a good experience but also learned basic skills in a supportive environment.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Preparing for football shooting game presented several challenges that tested my adaptability and leadership skills. Many of the children that came didnt know about the game so I had to break the game in small parts and teach them how to play it. While some kids were eager to participate, others were shy or hesitant, unsure of their abilities. This needed me to be patient and encourage them to gain confidence in their skills.I would like to propose organizing a tree plantation drive in a local park or school. This initiative would help promote environmental sustainability while allowing participants to actively contribute to a greener community. I also became more adjusting in my approach based on the children’s energy levels and enthusiasm.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Bal Mela required extensive preparation, and as volunteers, we played a key role in ensuring the event ran smoothly. We split ourselves to ensure the kids have a memorable experience where we organize the activities, set up the materials, and establish game rules. For the football game I was incharge for arranging the game, explaining the rules in an engaging way, and managing the flow of participants. Through this experience I learned the significance of effective planning, teamwork, and time management in executing a well-organized event. It also made me realize how small tasks are crucial for a larger success.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
One of the most rewarding aspects of Bal Mela was the collaboration among volunteers. From setting the game up to making the kids play we worked together smoothly which gave us a fun experience for both us and the kids. We even cheered the shy kids to play and had a nice experience.The event showed us the power of teamwork.

During the activity, we were always aware of the difficulties involved in dealing with young children. We needed to be fair, inclusive, and encouraging, making sure that all the children had an equal chance to play. Some of the children were shy at first, but by being welcoming and encouraging, we made it comfortable for them to play. This experiencetaught me the need to be patient, kind, and respectful to everyone.

Bal Mela was an fun experience that allowed me to bring joy to children and teach them new skills for personal development. It improved my communication skills, team working, and leadership, in addition to improved my awareness of responsibility. Seeing the smile on the faces of the children made me happy, and the experience has made me determined to go on serving my community and having a beneficial effect in useful ways.
