Anand Utsav was a special event where we got the chance to organize games and activities for the support staff of our school. It was a way to show appreciation for their hard work and make them feel more included in our school community. We planned and hosted fun games like musical chairs, balloon pop, and Antakshari (a singing game), making sure everyone had a great time. Seeing the staff smile and enjoy themselves made the event feel truly rewarding. This experience helped me improve my event management skills, teamwork, and ability to interact with different people. It also made me realize the importance of creating an inclusive and enjoyable work environment for everyone.
LO1: Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth
At first, I wasn’t sure how to engage a large group and get everyone involved. While I enjoy planning events, I realized that leading activities and keeping people entertained was something I needed to work on. As the event went on, I became more confident in giving instructions and making sure everyone was participating. I also learned that I am good at organizing logistics, such as ensuring games ran smoothly. However, I saw that I could improve in managing unexpected situations, like when some games had to be changed last minute. This experience helped me recognize my strengths in planning and organizing while showing me that I need to work on quick decision-making.
LO2: Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills
One of the biggest challenges was keeping the event organized and making sure everyone was involved. Some of the support staff were shy at first and hesitant to participate, so we had to encourage them and create a comfortable atmosphere. I also had to learn how to manage multiple activities at once, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Through this experience, I developed better communication and leadership skills, as I had to make sure everyone understood the rules and felt included. By the end of the event, I had gained more confidence in public speaking and leading group activities.
LO3: Demonstrate How to Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience
Anand Utsav required a lot of planning and preparation. We had to decide which games to organize, how to set up the event space, and how to make sure everyone had fun. I took the initiative to suggest ideas, coordinate with my peers, and ensure we had all the materials needed for the games. I also helped in dividing responsibilities among the team, making sure everything was well-organized. This experience showed me the importance of planning ahead and working as a team to make an event successful.
LO4: Show Commitment and Perseverance in CAS Experience
Organizing the event took a lot of time and effort, from planning the activities to managing the event on the day. At times, it was tiring and stressful, especially when we had to adjust plans on the spot. However, we stayed committed and made sure that everything went smoothly for the support staff to enjoy the event. Even when challenges came up, we didn’t let them discourage us. This experience reinforced the importance of dedication and perseverance when working towards a meaningful goal.
LO5: Demonstrate the Skills and Recognize the Benefits of Working Collaboratively
This event wouldn’t have been possible without teamwork. Each of us had different responsibilities—some handled the games, others managed the crowd, and some took care of logistics. Working together made the event more efficient and fun. I learned that trusting teammates and communicating effectively is key to a successful event. Through this experience, I saw how collaboration makes challenges easier to handle and ensures that everyone has a role to play.
LO6: Demonstrate Engagement with Issues of Global Significance
Anand Utsav made me think about the importance of inclusivity and workplace happiness. Around the world, companies and organizations are focusing on employee well-being and engagement to create better working environments. This event showed me how important it is to appreciate and respect the people who contribute to our daily lives. Creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere isn’t just important in schools—it’s essential in all workplaces globally. This experience made me realize that small efforts can have a big impact on someone’s happiness and motivation. Hence, SDG-10 is being developed here in the event which is reduced inequality.
LO7: Recognize and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions
Throughout the event, we made sure that everyone felt respected and included. We encouraged participation without forcing anyone and ensured that everyone got a chance to play and enjoy. It was important to create a welcoming and fair environment, where the support staff felt valued and appreciated. This experience helped me understand that ethical actions, such as treating people with kindness and respect, contribute to a more positive and supportive community.
Conclusion
Anand Utsav was more than just a fun event—it was a lesson in teamwork, leadership, and the importance of inclusivity. Organizing activities for the support staff gave me a new perspective on appreciation and community building. Through this experience, I developed new skills in event planning, communication, and collaboration, which will be valuable in the future. Most importantly, it showed me that small efforts can make a big difference in making people feel valued and included.
