I’ve always found rock climbing fascinating, but I had never given it a serious try before. When I got the chance to go to early morning climbing sessions, I saw it as an opportunity to test my physical limits and challenge myself in a new way.
Reflection:
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Rock climbing helped me understand my strengths, like balance and endurance, and areas where I needed to improve, such as grip strength and movement efficiency. By paying attention to my technique, I learned how to climb more effectively.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
After completing the climb, I set a goal to get faster. I kept trying different ways to move quickly while still staying safe, like changing my grip and finding better spots to place my feet. I also watched others climb and picked up useful tips. Over time, I got better at planning my moves and using less energy. Sticking to this challenge helped me become more determined.
LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
I had to come to school earlier than usual for rock climbing while still staying until the regular school hours. This was challenging because it made my days longer and more tiring. However, I kept pushing myself to stay motivated and give my best effort. Even when I felt exhausted, I didn’t give up. This experience helped me become more disciplined, manage my energy better, and stay committed to the task I have started.
